Carnival parking

If you’re coming to the carnival this Saturday (and we hope you all are!), then please be aware that there will be no public parking on Crown Meadow. Vehicle access to the meadow will be strictly for parade participants, traders, caterers, etc. Please respect this as it’s important, for safety reasons, that we remain in full control of vehicles on the meadow.

Unfortunately, the resurfacing of Viaduct Meadow car park means that the nearest alternative is also unavailable. With that in mind, we suggest the following options:

The Leisure Centre car park is 50p for two hours, £3 for three hours and £4 for seven hours. This is the closest available car park to Crown Meadow.

Riverside Centre multi-storey car park, accessed from Monks Walk at the bottom of Bridge Street (via Workman Bridge), is £1 all day. But be aware that this closes at 6:30pm, so if you plan to stay for the evening entertainment you’ll need to go elsewhere!

Old Brewery Car Park, accessed from Merstow Green or Bewdley Street, is £1 an hour up to three hours, or £4 all day, and is only a short walk from the meadow (under ten minutes via Abbey Park). This is also very convenient if you want to watch the parade through the town centre.

Hampton Ferry, at the end of Boat Lane, is £2 a day and is a pleasant riverside walk (approximately ten minutes) to Crown Meadow. This is also a good “park and walk” option for parents of small children as the path to Crown Meadow is entirely flat and doesn’t cross any roads.

If you would prefer to park for free, then we have been given permission to use the South Worcestershire College car park on Davies Road. This is also around a ten minute walk from Crown Meadow.

Alternatively, if you live in the town, then just walk or cycle. It’s healthier for you, and better for the environment!
